Rabbi Cohen

Rabbi Yitzchok Cohen is a distinguished scholar and leader deeply rooted in the world of Torah. His journey began at the renowned Rabbinical College of America (RJJ) in Edison, where he immersed himself in the study of Jewish law and tradition. Seeking to further enhance his knowledge, Rabbi Cohen continued his studies at Yeshivas Brisk in Eretz Yisrael (Israel) and later joined the distinguished ranks of the Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG) in Lakewood, New Jersey, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of esteemed Torah luminaries.

After his marriage, Rabbi Cohen and his wife settled in Lakewood for five years, where they became cherished members of the community. In pursuit of his passion for sharing Torah wisdom and strengthening Jewish life, Rabbi Cohen made a pivotal decision to move to Chicago, where he joined the Chicago Community Kollel. There, he found a sense of camaraderie with fellow scholars, fostering a spirit of unity and growth within the community.

In 2014, Rabbi Cohen's quest for knowledge led him to "The Chaburah," a group dedicated to nightly Torah study. This group would later become the cornerstone of Ohel Tefillah, a vibrant and thriving institution founded by Rabbi Cohen in 2016. Ohel Tefillah has since become a center for spiritual growth and Torah learning, attracting individuals seeking guidance and inspiration on their Jewish journey.

Parallel to his scholarly pursuits, Rabbi Cohen took on the role of 12th-grade Rebbi at Yeshiva Derech Hatorah in 2016. As an educator, he has endeared himself to his students, imparting not only knowledge but also a deep love and appreciation for Torah values.

Outside of his academic and rabbinical duties, Rabbi Cohen's wife, Mrs. Cohen, has established herself as a well-known occupational therapist in the Chicago area. Additionally, she is highly regarded for her expertise as a Kallah teacher, guiding and preparing numerous brides-to-be for married life. Her dedication to her students and passion for teaching have earned her widespread admiration and gratitude from the community.

Together, Rabbi and Mrs. Cohen, along with their children, embody the true essence of communal leaders. Their genuine warmth, kindness, and dedication have allowed them to forge meaningful connections with people from all walks of life. They cherish every opportunity to make a positive impact on the community, fostering a sense of unity and growth among their fellow Jews.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Rabbi Cohen as a Rabbinic leader of our Shul as he uplifts and inspires us all to reach new heights.
